The Transmitter plugs into a standard outlet and emits a radio signal that travels along an underground wire which is really an antenna that carries the signal. You can adjust the signal to up to 15 feet from the wire. In most cases, a 4 to 6 foot signal field will be the best for optimal training. The lightweight receiver worn on your pet's collar picks up the radio signal and alerts him/her as he/she nears the underground boundary that you have customized for your yard. When he/she approaches the boundary, he/she receives a warning beep. If your pet does not return, he/she receives a static correction which is startling but not harmful. Our maintenance-free design and ease of installation offer tremendous savings compared to conventional fencing and other systems of this type.

When using the remote, the fence transmitter floods the area inside the boundary wire with the signal and this activates the receiver. All receivers within the boundary will activate when the remote is used. If you have more than one pet, you may want to remove the receiver from the other pet(s) so he/she/they do(es) not get a correction.

With 2 levels of correction for the remote training mode, this pet training system is effective on any dog. The remote training function will work on systems up to 1200 feet in length (approximately 2 acres). The remote training function has a negative tone without correction and a negative tone with correction. After a few corrections, your dog will associate the tone with the correction. This makes the remote trainer one of the most humane trainers available since before long, all you will need to correct your dog is the negative tone.

PetSafe makes it easy to train your pet. By spending just 15 minutes a day working with your pet, he/she can be fully trained in a few days. You can train as many pets as you want on the same system as long as each is wearing his/her own receiver collar. Additional collar/receivers are available if your have more than one pet.

PetSafe offers the flexibility you need to solve your installation needs. Bury the boundary wire underground approximately 1 to 2 inches deep. Using your own design, you can protect your flower and seedbeds, shrubs, trees and even swimming pools. The diagram below shows the most common way to layout your system but there are almost endless ways of installing a system.

Please note that you do not have to install your "Underground Invisible Fence" underground! An above ground installation can serve as a permanent installation.
